Yancha - Mei Zhan 梅占
$5.38
The 2023 new version comes from a different tea farmer and presents a slightly different flavor profile, altering the balance between fruitiness and floralness. However, it perfectly showcases the characteristics of the Mei Zhan varietal, just like the previous production. Additionally, Lao Shu Mei Zhan from old trees is also available on our website now.
(Updated in July, 2024)
Mei Zhan is a local varietal in Fujian province, originating from Anxi County, which is well-known for Tie Guan Yin. Being a very versatile tea tree species, it is used not only for oolong but also widely for green tea and black tea, including Jin Jun Mei made from Mei Zhan.
Using high-quality harvest and being just right roasted, our 2020 Mei Zhan is both floral and fruity, with sweetness in the gentle tea soup. Ripe fruit notes, like slight plum hint, and mixed floral scent may appear alternately. Neither the fragrance nor the flavor is overpowering but both are persistent, leaving a mild sweetness in the mouth after each sip, even in the last few infusions.
