These tea cups are one of the typical styles of the Jianshui Zitao ceramic art, using the very particular technique "carving and filling". The orchid patterns are not painted, instead, are carved on the cup and then filled the grooves with clay of different colors. Unglazed, unpolished natural surface.

The name of the cups comes from its shape, since Dou Li is a traditional  conical hat widely used in many asian countries in the past, often made of bamboo.
